Patrick James Hilley, Jr.
Patrick James Hilley, Jr., a lifelong resident of St. Johns, died on October 31, 2022 after a brief illness. He was 51 years old.
Patrick was born on April 4, 1971 in Pensacola, Florida and grew up in St. Johns, Michigan. He graduated from St. Johns High School, worked for over twenty-seven years at General Motors and enjoyed working with his uncle at White Pine Tool.
In 2012 Patrick was reacquainted with a high school sweetheart, Heather Desper, and after a brief courtship, they married on October 19, 2013. Patrick was gentle and sweet, with the kindest heart. He was a man of few words until you found one of his passions, which included boat racing, fishing, politics, and history. He loved to know facts and complete research. He was meticulous about his lawn and took extraordinary care of his Stargazer Lilies. He loved spending time with his family and friends – he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Heather (Desper) Hilley; their children, Madison (Jon) Stahly, Emma Hutton, Mitchell Hilley and McKenzie Hilley; mother, June (Jon) Tatroe; father, Patrick (Michele) Hilley, Sr.; mother-in-law, Jo Wheeler; father-in-law, Philip (JoAnn) Desper; siblings, Troy (Kristin) Tatroe, Tricia (Bill) Hjorth, Kevin (Laura) Tatroe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Philip (Luz) Desper, Jr., Todd Desper, Emily (Brian) Sjoerdsma and Sara (Mitch) Elenbaas. He is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 4-8 PM at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns.
