Tri-County Office on Aging offering online workshops in January

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a 6-week, interactive workshop that helps non-professional caregivers to take better care of themselves while caring for someone else. Topics include stress management, relaxation, dealing with difficult emotions such as anger, guilt, depression, dealing with losses, communication, and more.

Wednesdays, January 18 – February 22, 2023, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Diabetes PATH is a 6-week interactive workshop designed for individuals with diabetes and pre-diabetes. You will learn how meal plan, decrease stress, get physically active, balance blood sugar, make goals, improve energy, and more!

When: Mondays, January 23 – February 27, 2023, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Intro to Watercolor coming January 22

Learn more about watercolor with Susan Mahoney on Sunday, January 22 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.

This beginner’s class at the Art & Soul Gallery is suitable for anyone who wants to give watercolor a try with no strings attached. You will learn about basic supplies, paint on dry and wet paper, mix colors, and learn how to develop a good composition.

In this class, you will learn basic techniques while crafting jolly paintings. This 2 1/2 hour class costs $35. All supplies will be provided.

 


Update: Interested in learning more about beekeeping?

Attention! Due to high demand organizers have added a second session. It will be on the same day, same location: January 21 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The morning session is now full. Having two sessions will allow a smaller group and create a more personal experience for everyone.

Local student named to Dean’s List

The University of Wisconsin-Madison has named Abby Vitou of DeWitt in the School of Business to the Dean’s List for the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own GPA requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction.


Second Cup Cafe open Monday through Friday

The Second Cup Cafe located in the Clinton County RESA Bldg., 1013 Old US-27 in St. Johns is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Cafe supports young adults in the Transitions Classroom.

They are selling at $1.50 each Big cookies: NoBakes, Monster, Chocolate Scotcharoos, Molasses, Oatmeal-Raisin, Brownies, Soft Pretzels and cheese dipping sauce, Bagels, Coffee and Tea. They also have lots of assorted decorations. Come and support these hard working students.


Good News Kitchen offers free lunches on Tuesdays

Good News Kitchen, a ministry of St. John’s Lutheran Church, serves free lunches on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 511 E. Sturgis St. in St. Johns, the corner of Business 27 and Sturgis St.

You may stop by and grab a free lunch to go for yourself, your family, a friend or a neighbor. Meals are free for everyone, and all are welcome to come although donations are always accepted and appreciated.

If you have questions or want to order ahead for pick up call 989-224-6796. Look for the signs and come to the west side entrance to get your free meals.
