Clinton Transit brings residents to airport, bus and train stations
Travelers Save on Time, Money and Hassles
As spring break approaches, Clinton Transit wants Clinton County residents to know that they’re standing ready to schedule an easy, cost-conscious and safe ride to and from Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport and East Lansing’s Greyhound and Amtrak stations. The agency’s fleet of Blue Buses and vans regularly provides transportation from Clinton County to area travel hubs.
“Our friendly, local drivers pick up residents and provide transportation right to their departure spot. Travelers appreciate not having to park outdoors, pay those parking rates, or drag their luggage through this Michigan weather,” explains Clinton Transit’s Executive Director MaLissa Schutt.
“It’s less stressful knowing you have a reliable ride to and from the airport – and you won’t have to dig out your vehicle if it snows while you’re gone. We just ask travelers to schedule their rides as far in advance as possible so we can plan accordingly,” says Schutt.
Taking the Blue Bus is often a cost saver as well. Clinton Transit’s regular one-way fare to the Lansing airport is $3. A discounted fare of $1.50 applies to seniors 60 and older, all persons with an ADA-defined disability and youth under the age of 18. Military veterans always ride free. Rides to Greyhound and Amtrak locations in Ingham County are $4 each way with a $2 discounted fare. By comparison it costs $10/night to park in long-term airport parking; Amtrak charges $10/day or $50/week for parking.
Clinton Transit expanded its service hours last year and runs from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Schutt encourages, “If our service hours don’t quite match your travel itinerary, don’t rule us out! Give us a call. By coordinating with our community partners, we can often assist with individual circumstances.” Schutt also understands that travel delays can happen. “We won’t leave you stranded! We want our community to know us as the agency that finds a way to say ‘yes’ when addressing their mobility needs,” she says.
New riders will need to register in advance of their first trip by completing the form available at mybluebus.com/sign-up or by calling the dispatch office at 989.224.8127. Unaccompanied riders under the age of 18 will also need to have a parent or guardian submit an Unaccompanied Youth Rider Registration form two weeks prior to their first ride. Once registered, riders can manage their schedule any time by using the Clinton Transit mobile app or by calling the dispatch office Mon.-Fri. between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Sat. between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Established in 2001, Clinton Transit has been providing curb-to-curb service to meet the needs of all Clinton County residents. Fondly known as the Blue Bus, the on-demand transit system responds to ride requests and provides safe, reliable transportation to all county residents. This creates a more connected, accessible and vibrant Clinton County. For more information on the Blue Bus, visit mybluebus.com.

What is Chainmail?
Helms Weave
Believed to have originated in 500 BC, Chainmail is a Celtic invention consisting of patterned, mesh armor made of interconnected metal rings . For a millennia, the flexible armor was used to protect soldiers from all over the world. Now, it’s ancient techniques live on through jewelry with different cultures creating their own weaves. No one knows the origins of Helms Weave, although its simple pattern harkens to medieval styles.
