Edwin F. Harger

Edwin F. Harger, age 93, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Keith Whipple officiating. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Edwin was born in Lansing, MI on April 8, 1925, the son of Frank and May (Taylor) Harger. Edwin married Betty Cowie on March 5, 1949 in Chicago, IL; Betty passed away on February 28, 2012. Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver after many years of service. Edwin enjoyed working in his yard, going for rides, and talking with anyone he met. He liked going fishing with Frank on Friday’s. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Eureka.

He is survived by his daughters: Lorraine and Philip Mackie of St. Johns, MI; Beth Socia of St. Johns, MI; Barbara and Mark Turner of Brethren, MI; brother Roy and Delores Harger of Eureka, MI; and sister Imogene Beck of Eureka, MI. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son in law Dick Socia, and brother Vernon (Beverly) Harger.

Mary Louise Rademacher

Mary Louise Rademacher, age 89, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI, on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Lansing, MI on April 7, 1929, the daughter of Roy and Mary (Coughlin) Quick. Mary married Roderick Rademacher on September 6, 1958 and he passed away on January 6, 1969. She was a Clinton County Commissioner, Bengal Township Treasurer and a City of St. Johns retiree. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI. Mary resided most of her life in St. Johns.

She is survived by her children: Anne Rademacher, Daniel and Joan Rademacher, Gerald and Michelle Rademacher, Russell (Sandy Schmitt) Rademacher, Edward and Rachele Rademacher; brother James and Dorothy Quick, sister Donna and David Starr, sister in-laws: Doris Quick, Eugenia and Alban Arens, Marcella Rademacher and MaryLou Rademacher. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Kimberly, Jessica, Nicholas, Brittany, Tyler, Conner, Nicole, Josh, Allyson and Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: William and Charles Quick and 4 sisters: Lorraine Norris, Barbara Ridge, Rita Quick and Joyce Zahn.

Mary Terese Croyle

Mary Terese Croyle died unexpectedly Monday, August 20, 2018 at the young age of 59. She was born March 27, 1959 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Elmer and Wilma (Simon) Thelen. Terese was a graduate of Pewamo Westphalia High School, Class of 1978. She enjoyed boating, going up north, playing softball and spending time with her family and friends. Terese LIVED for her grandchildren and was extremely proud of her son. She was there for anything and everything that involved her grandkids.

Terese was one of the most caring and giving persons on this earth. Those that knew her know she would do anything for anyone, even perfect strangers. Terese always put everyone else’s needs and wants before her own. Terese was extremely hard working and was often accused of never being able to relax. She was employed by Auto Owners Insurance with over 40 years of service where she was very successful and respected. On July 15, 1994 she married Randy Croyle, and he survives her.

Also surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Kristi Pratl; four grandsons, Austin (Brandi) Brown, Keegan Kinne, Bryce and Brody Pratl; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Croyle; brothers and sisters, David (Deb) Thelen, Ruth (Jerry) Armbrustmacher, Linda (Brian) Ritter, Jim (Sandy) Thelen, Jerry (Sharon) Thelen, Donna (Doug) Pline, Rick (Shannon) Thelen, Larry (Sheehan) Thelen and Patty (Stacy) Darling; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie (Kerry) Heuhs, Debbie (Gene) Jackson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Robert Croyle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Wednesday August 22 and 1:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and Friday August 23 and 24 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to an education fund for her grandchildren.


Jace A. Davey

Jace A. Davey passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018. He was born October 9, 1991 in St. Johns, MI the son of Dorrance and Lori (Burns) Davey. Jace was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 2010 and continued his education by taking some college classes.

Jace had a huge heart and was always willing to be there in a time of need. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Jace was a son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. Please join us in celebrating Jace’s life of ups and downs.

Surviving are his parents, Dorrance and Lori Davey; a brother, Dallas; one niece, Hailey Davey; special friend, Lexi Sanchez and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
