FOMR to work on the river April 22
The Friends of the Maple River (FOMR) will be performing log jam removal work on the Maple River, primarily on reaches of the river within Clinton County.
The scheduled day is Saturday April 22, 2023. Work is planned from 9 AM until Noon. Please meet at the Elsie Dam on Island Road just west of the Village of Elsie by 9 AM. A makeup date of Saturday, May 5, has been set should weather or river conditions are not favorable on April 22. Same time and location.
Come dressed to work in and around the water with waders, gloves, jackets, etc. Also bring any cutting equipment and such as you are willing to use towards the cause. Note that most productive log jam removal occurs with wadding in the water to cut the logs and then move the material.
Please contact Jack Nutter at 989-862-5541 for more information or to confirm work will be occurring on the specified dates. If you are unable to reach Jack, contact Jon Morrison at 989-534-1132.
While work sites have already generally been identified, if you are aware of a log jam that could use attention on the river, feel free to contact Jack Nutter and make him aware of this location.
