Lions Club Annual White Cane Sale is May 5, 6

The St. Johns Lions Club will be raising funds at two locations in St. Johns on May 5 and 6 to support sight and hearing programs. Funds from this campaign will help cover the cost of eyeglasses, hearing aids, corneal transplants, and more for those in need. Please consider supporting our efforts with a donation.

Kroger Friday, May 5 – 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

CAAS Open House is Saturday, May 6

 

Please join the Clinton Area Ambulance Service in celebrating their 50th Anniversary from 2-5 p.m. on May 6. The station is located at 1001 South Oakland.

Come on out and check out the equipment, ambulances, meet the crews and see their home.


Spring Fling and Touch a Truck are May 13

 

The Spring Fling and Touch a Truck event sponsored by St. Johns Area Chamber of Commerce will be held in Downtown St. Johns on Saturday, May 13 from 12-4 p.m.

Expect much fun for the whole family including Craft Vendors, Bounce Houses, Kids activities and lots of Emergency and Utility vehicles for kids to explore.
There also will be the beautiful downtown to shop, eat and explore that day.


City Spring Clean-Up coming up May 13

 

The City of St. Johns Spring Clean-Up is set for Saturday, May 13, 2023. Items can start being placed by the curb on Saturday, May 6. Items must be placed out by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13. Items placed after the contractor has passed will not be picked up.

Clean-up is limited to 3 cubic yards of material (approx. the size of a regular pick-up truck box). Pickers be courteous and keep areas tidy. Do not leave a mess.

DO put out:
-Appliances (appliances containing ANY food will not be picked up. Doors must be removed from refrigerator or freezer unit).
-Electronics (T.V.s, computer & stereo equipment)
-Lawn mowers (must be drained of fuel & oil)
-Hub caps
-Copper or brass tubing & wiring
-Large toys
-Bicycles
-Furniture (indoor & outdoor) & mattresses
-Scrap metal (bed frames, aluminum lawn chairs, file cabinets, etc.)
-Odd pieces of lumber under 4 ft. long (must be bundled)
-Carpeting (bundles less than 6 ft. long)
Please box, bag or bundle (50 lb. limit) your items when possible.

DO NOT put out:
-Household trash or recyclables (cans, bottles, etc.)
-Liquids or hazardous waste
-Automobile components
-Yard waste including stumps
-Batteries (can be recycled)
-Books, magazines & newspapers (can be recycled)
-Construction or demolition materials from major household repairs.
-Dirt or sand piles
-Latex paint (can be dried out & placed in weekly trash pick-up)

Any refuse that contains contaminated items may be only partially picked up or left behind by contractor.

This is available for city residents who live in a one to four unit dwelling. A refuse fee is applied to the summer tax bill to pay for this service. Any non-resident placing refuse illegally is subject to a $500 fine.


Legion Auxiliary sponsoring calendar raffle

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 153 is selling calendar raffle tickets. The tickets are $5/ticket.

Every day during the month of June excluding Sundays you have the potential to win money. If your 3 digit ticket matches the Daily 3 then you win $50; if your number is one over or one under you win $10.

Imagine buying a ticket and being in 26 drawings!

Tickets are available at the bar, from Alicia Burton or any other Auxiliary member.


Mint Pageant applications now open

 

Applications are now open for a summer of fun and the chance to represent the Mint Festival as the next Mint Queen, Junior Miss Mint or Little Miss Mint.

Apply by June 10, 2023. The pageant is open to candidates ages 8-20 who live or go to school in Clinton County.

he 2023 Mint Festival Pageant will be held on Thursday, July 20, with practices beginning July 10.
