Hazel Mae Seelhoff
Hazel Mae Seelhoff, age 90, of St. Johns, MI, formerly of Ovid, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 8, 2023 with Pastor Scott Seelhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and also on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Hazel was born in Duplain Township, Michigan on October 13, 1932, the daughter of Alton and Ellen (Robinson) Thompson. She graduated from Ovid High School with the class of 1950. Hazel married Dale Hinkle on June 30, 1951, and he passed away on August 22, 1989. Hazel married Donald W. Seelhoff on June 16, 1991 at her daughter’s home in Ovid, Michigan. They were blessed with twenty-eight years of marriage; prior to his passing on February 2, 2020.
Hazel first worked for Montgomery Ward in Owosso. In 1966 she started driving bus for Ovid-Elsie and thereafter was the supervisor for 28 years. After retirement she worked with Osgood Funeral Home in Ovid. Hazel enjoyed trips to the casino with her family and friends. She also loved her time at the lake. Most of all, Hazel loved spending time with her family. She was a super fan to her great-grandchildren and supported them in all of their activities.
She is survived by her daughters: Vickie and Dan Csapos of Zephyrhills, FL; Tracy and Kerry Cole of Laingsburg, MI; two stepsons: Donald and Wendy Seelhoff Jr. of Hopkins, MI; Thomas and Karen Seelhoff of Owosso, MI; sister-in-law Shirley and Gaylord Long of Elsie, MI. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Derek Csapos, Erin (Derek) Cuthbert, and Dayna Bancroft; great-grandchildren: Cora, Logan, and Mason Csapos, Camren and Karigann Cuthbert, Tyler, Joey, and Michael Bancroft; step-grandchildren: Lindsay (Aaron) Pumfery, Ryan (Samantha) Seelhoff, Donald (Casandra) Seelhoff III, and Daniel (Krista) Seelhoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Dale Hinkle and Donald Seelhoff, one sister Georgia Wakefield; brothers: Louis Thompson, Lyle Thompson, Cecil “Pete” Thompson and step son Richard “Rick” Seelhoff.

Gwendolyn Agnes Christacopulos
Gwendolyn Agnes Christacopulos, of Lansing, died peacefully on May 3, 2023. She was 79 years old.
Gwen was born on August 29, 1943 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Reuben and Gertrude (Ray) Eirschele. At the age of six, Gwen and her family moved to Three Rivers and later, East Jordan, Michigan. She graduated from East Jordan High School where she was part of a small class of 42 classmates. After attending college in Petoskey and Lansing Business University, Gwen started her life’s career at the Michigan Department of Treasury in 1965. She retired in 2002 after thirty seven years of service.
She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, books, 6 AM sewing with her buddies and singing with the Young at Heart retirement group – singing concerts for nursing homes and senior centers. She also enjoyed casino trips and vacations back to visit relatives in Wisconsin.
Gwen is survived by her sister, Francine Besko, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. She will be missed dearly by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Gertrude Eirschele; brothers, Virgil and Wayne Eirschele; sister, Theresa (Bob) Dawkins and cousin Harold Jerue, as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles and many feline companions. She greatly missed her fur babies.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing at 12 PM, with visitation beginning at 11 AM. The Rev. Fr. Gordon Reigle officiating. Burial Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. A luncheon will follow.

Delmar Ford Janes, Jr.
Delmar Ford Janes, Jr., age 70, of St. Johns, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his home.
A Graveside Service will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 1:00 P.M.
Del was born in Owosso, Michigan on February 28, 1953, the son Delmar Ford and Jeannie Eleanor (Hancock) Janes. He attended Ovid-Elsie Area Schools. He retired from General Motors. He worked with his father doing construction work and built a number of houses in the area.
His family was important to him and loved them dearly. Del enjoyed being outdoors and had a cabin in Gladwin, Michigan. He also enjoyed riding quads and loved to ride his Harley.
He is survived by his son Ryan Janes of St. Johns, Michigan; one grandson Keegan Louis Janes; and his sister Kathie and Harry Hawn of Ovid, Michigan. Del was preceded in death by his parents, brother Allen Janes, and sister Dawn Janes.

Jack Arnold Plowman
Jack Arnold Plowman, age 86, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died in his home on April 28, 2023. Jack was born on May 2, 1936 in St. Johns, Michigan, to RG and Mildred (Whitney) Plowman.
Jack grew up in St. Johns and graduated from St. Johns High School in 1954. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany as a Military Policeman. After his service in Germany, he returned to his hometown where he worked as a materials inspector for the Michigan Highway Department. He met Sheryl Hajek, the love of his life, and they married in North Judson, Indiana, on July 15, 1961. They resided in St. Johns, where they raised three boys. Dedicated to serving the community, Jack changed careers, and graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy in 1973. He served as an officer with the St. Johns Police Department for 21 years before retiring in 1994. Jack earned the admiration, affection, and respect of the citizens of St. Johns and his fellow officers and workers.
After his retirement, Jack and Sheryl moved to Drummond Island where he continued to enjoy his family, fishing, hunting, gardening, and golf. He was actively involved with Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, The Drummond Island Sportsman’s Club, and the Drummond Island Lions Club.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sheryl; sons, Jeff, Mark, and Brian (Elly); grandchildren, Chelsea, Grant, James, and Lily, all of whom he adored; two great grandchildren; sisters, Norma (Denny) Bauer and Judy Plowman; and his brother Larry. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert, and Richard.
Jack left this world surrounded by those who loved him most and it was his request for no services.

Nancy Lou Zigler
Nancy Lou Zigler, age 73, of St Johns died April 27, 2023, with her family by her side.
Nancy was born on May 1, 1949, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Lou (Tinder) Fisher. Nancy lived in Waukegan, IL; Seattle, WA; and Van Nuys, CA, until she met the love of her life Mike Zigler. Nancy and Mike were married on August 14, 1970 at the First United Methodist Church in St Johns, MI. Upon moving to Michigan, Nancy worked as a hairdresser for over 30 years, starting her first job at the Marilyn McQueen beauty shop.
Nancy loved people. She also enjoyed serving the community. She shared her life with many people working at the St Johns Hospital gift shop, along with being an active supporter of Relay for Life. Some of her passions included yoga and cardio drumming.
One of the many blessings which came from Nancy and Mike’s marriage was their only son Nathan, who brought joy to many. Nathan preceded his mother in death in 2010. Along with her husband, those left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law Sue (Robert) Shinabery, as well as many dear friends. She is also preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Marta.
Memorial Visitation will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 4 — 8 PM.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 6, 2023 at 12:00 PM, McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns with a time of gathering from 10:00AM until the time of the service.

Michael Andrew Johnson
Michael Andrew Johnson, age 62, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at his home.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Michael was born in Flint, Michigan on January 5, 1961, the son of Charles R. and Jerrie A. (Harrison) Johnson. He graduated from Central High School in Flint. Mike married Billie Lee Spaulding on January 27, 1990, in Flint, MI.
Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved country living, animals and computers. He loved playing board games with his family and truck ride adventures with his granddaughter Malaya. In his youth he was a very talented musician and singer, playing multiple instruments including drums in high school. Guitar was his favorite instrument to play and he enjoyed family sing alongs. He was employed with the State of Michigan as a IT technician and had previously worked for General Motors.
He is survived by his loving wife Billie Johnson, daughter Elizabeth Johnson, stepson: Jason Hardenburg, grandchildren: Malaya, Mylah, and Monte, step-grandchildren: Jacob and Emma, brothers: Matthew Johnson, and Timothy and Susan Johnson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Brian Hardenburg.

Sharon Kay Amante
Sharon Kay Amante, age 79, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (431 East Saginaw Street, East Lansing, MI 48823) on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday the hour prior to the service at the church.
Sharon was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 11, 1943, the daughter of Kansas Cyclone and Phyllis Jean (Bailey) Fleming. She graduated from West Bloomfield High School in 1961. Sharon married Fredric J. Amante on October 12, 1974. Fred passed away on April 20, 2011.
Sharon owned and operated Am-Pak Medical Express out of Haslett from 1982-2015. She was a wonderful cook, loved sewing and singing with the Laingsburg Community Singers. Sharon loved summer trips to Ludington, camping and spending time on the beach. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Johns, MI.
Sharon wanted people to remember her with this “I fought the fight, I am happy with my life, I am a good person, I want everyone to do something good for someone else, everyday”.
She is survived by her children: Brian and Karla Jensen of Keego Harbor, MI; Shauna Amante of Lansing, MI; Karissa Amante and Cliff Thomas of Montague, MI; DeAndrea and Wil Ireland of Dimondale, MI; sister Glory Stringham of Ludington, MI; niece Gina and Dale Bodiford of Elwell, MI; nephew Erik Christensen of Ludington, MI; daughter-in-law Susan Jensen of Lansing, MI; and son-in-law Michael Harding of Mason, MI. She is also survived by grandchildren: Stephanie Miller, Clint Jensen, Joshua Harding, and Jason (Lacy) Harding, Theresa Jensen, Amanda Jensen, Zane Amante, Nicholas Thomas, Sebastian Ireland, and Roman Ireland, fifteen great-grandchildren and many half-siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children: Edward Jensen, Ellen Harding, Heather Amante, and her brother Danny Touleyrou.
