Eagle Twp. farmland update

The conservative think tank Mackinac Center for Public Policy is suing Michigan State University over redacting details about the 1,400-acre parcel of land in Eagle Township that is being prepped as a “mega site.”

The the lawsuit was filed on Monday, July 10 in the Michigan Court of Claims.

Michigan State University said it does not comment on pending litigation.

The Mackinac Center filed a FOIA request in February to get more information about whether Michigan State could legally sell the Morris property. The Mackinac Center says it filed the lawsuit to “shed light on an area of important public debate.”

The legal action aims to require Michigan State to provide a full response to the Mackinac Center’s FOIA request.
