Community adds to train mural

During last weekend’s Mint Festival Tracie Davis Art and Murals once again offered the community a chance to paint by number. This time folks were invited to add to the existing train mural located on the back of Gill-Roy’s Hardware. Painting began right after the parade.

Sponsors for the event included St. Johns Area Community Fund and Swany’s Pub & Grub. Clinton County Arts sponsored a portion of the train mural several years ago and acted as fiduciary for this project.

These community murals really do rely on a communal effort to make them work.

Zuker Family Fund established

Dan and Cindy Zuker recently established the Zuker Family Fund through the St. Johns Area Community Fund to honor Dan’s parents, Bob and Mary.

The Zukers were life-long residents of St. Johns where they raised nine children and maintained strong ties to St. Joseph Catholic Church and their civic community. Dan and Cindy have chosen to honor them because they supported this community in so many ways.

Bob and Mary Zuker contributed early and often to the St. Johns Area Community Fund and the establishment of the Zuker Family Fund, a specific pocket of endowed funds named for them, will ensure that giving to their community lives on. Dan says, “My parents would be extremely proud of this legacy because the Zuker Family Fund will distribute money for community use in their hometown every year, forever.”

In concept the Fund principal remains intact to produce annual distributions to the St. Johns Area Community Fund. Anyone, at any time, in any amount may donate to the Zuker Family Fund and be assured that it will continually work to serve Bob and Mary Zuker’s legacy by making the St. Johns Community an even better place to live and raise a family.
