Relay For Life Kick Off is November 27

The Relay For Life Of Clinton County Kick Off will be held on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at AgroLiquid, 3055 M-21-St. Johns.

Relay is community driven fundraising walk where individuals and teams of friends, family and colleagues celebrate cancer survivors, remember those we have lost to cancer, and fight back by raising money and awareness in the fight against cancer. Team members take turns walking the track throughout the event. Food, games, music and activities provide entertainment and add to the festivities.

Ladies Advent Dessert Tea is November 30

The Ladies Advent Dessert Tea will be held on Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m. at Pilgrim United Methodist Church; 2965 W. Parks Rd., St. Johns. Please join them, and please invite other women who might also be blessed by Carrie Gaul’s talk: “Can you hear the Whisper? In the Christmas frenzy . . . All Is Well.”

Revive our Hearts is a ministry that calls women to freedom, fullness and fruitfulness in Christ. Carrie serves on staff with Revive our Hearts and encourages women through her words to not merely survive, but to thrive. The Lord speaks through her to help women experience peace, joy, contentment and purpose.

Wilson Center gym to become Nerf battle field November 30

Join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department November 30th as they turn the Wilson Center gym into a Nerf battle field. Children will be participating in many different nerf based games. Each child will be given 10 bullets to start, bullets can be collected as the battles continues. Teams will be made up onsite with children present.

This event is for children in the 3rd through 12th grade. Students 3rd through 5th grade will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm; Middle School aged students will take place 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.; High school aged students will take place from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Each child must bring their own eye protection and nerf gun, of any size. The City will provide the bullets. Games will begin promptly at times published, so please arrive early enough to get checked in and the proper paperwork filled out. The cost to participate in this activity is $5 per participant.

Bellingars to hold Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 1

Bellingar Specialty Meats would like to invite you to their Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 1 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at 5006 N US 27, Saint Johns, Michigan. They will be offering samples, sales, and holiday cheer.

WITL will be there from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and the first 25 people in line have a chance to win tickets to the WITL Christmas Party.

Santa will be there from 1:00-4:00 p.m., so bring the kids.


Moolenaar Office Accepting Internship Applications

The office of Congressman John Moolenaar is currently accepting applications for congressional internships in his Washington, D.C. office for Spring 2018.

The internship program is open to college students and recent graduates who are interested in learning more about our country’s legislative process and the day-to-day operations of a congressional office. Intern responsibilities include conducting tours of the U.S. Capitol, researching federal legislation and assisting legislative staff. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend legislative briefings and congressional hearings on Capitol Hill. Applicants are asked to provide a cover letter, resume and any specific legislative issues or areas of interest. Applications will reviewed on a first-come basis.

College credits are available per school requirements.

Briggs District Library News

The Batman and the Ballerina – On Tuesday, November 20 from 6:00-8:00pm, Dean Feldpausch will discuss his novel, based on the life and love of aerial stuntman, Clem Sohn of Fowler, and England’s premier ballerina, Margot Fonteyn. He will also take questions, and have books available for purchase and to sign. No library card is needed to attend this free program, but advance registration is appreciated.

Connections – Patrons needing help with OverDrive/Libby, RBDigital, or any of the library’s other e-services will be able to come to the library for drop-in tech help each Wednesday from 2:00-3:00pm.

Tales to Tails – 15 minute sessions for children ages 6-12 to practice reading aloud to Ruger, a certified therapy dog. Ruger will be at the library Thursday December 13 from 6:30-7:30. Registration is required and is open now. Ruger will be available on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month in the upcoming year. Registration for 2019 will begin next week.

Holiday Programs – HO! HO! HO! It is that time of year again! There will be music, stories, games, crafts and refreshments! There will be a jolly man in a red suit that will visit with each child. Hand stamps given at the door determine the order in which each child will visit with Santa. This is a great photo opportunity so make sure to bring your camera with you. You are invited to enjoy our Holiday Programs on Thursday, December 6 (6-8 p.m.), Friday, December 7, (6:30-8:30 p.m.) or Saturday, December 8 (10:30-noon). Registration is not required for any of these FREE programs.

Tween Program – Tweens ages 9-12 can join us on Tuesday, December 11 when we make simple holiday snacks! Registration for this free program is now available.

Christmas Cartoon and Craft – We will be watching a short cartoon and making a holiday snack at our next Cartoon and Craft program. Children ages 6-9 can participate in some holiday fun on Tuesday, December 18 from 6:30-7:30. Registration is required, and begins on Tuesday, November 20.

“New Year New Books!” Pre-Reader Storytime – Join us for brand new books and lots of fun. Some of the titles are: “Attack of the 50-Foot Fluffy”, “The Ugliest Dog in the World”, “Rot, the Cutest (potato) in the World”, “Crash, Splash or Moo!” just to name of few. Mark your calendars for Thursday evenings, 6:30-7pm, January 10th – February 14th. Registration is required and begins December 13th. Hope you can join us for fun, music, games, snacks and new tales!

Library Closure – The Library will close at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 21 and be closed November 22 and 23 for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout this closure. The Library will be open on Saturday November 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m..
