Calling all Clinton County 4-H Alumni – February 23

Did 4-H make a difference in your life? Did it shape you into the person you are today? Did it help steer you to your future profession? Did you meet lifelong friends? Did you earn scholarships for college?

As 4-H youth, what people didn’t realize is that there were so many people working behind the scenes and raising money to give young people the opportunity to participate in 4-H.

The Friends of 4-H program raises funds for many of the things everyone took for granted like ribbons and rosettes at the fair, 4-H trips, scholarships, and other educational programs. Now 4-Hers need you to ensure these same opportunities are available to the next generation of 4-Hers.

Please consider attending the Friends of 4-H dinner on February 23r.! You are promised a night of delicious food, lots of laughter, and feeling good about making a difference.

TCOA seeks volunteers for MLK Day of Service

The Tri-County Office on Aging is pleased to be participating in the 2019 National Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and is seeking volunteers to help with food preparation tasks for the Meals on Wheels Program in the Sam and Eva Eyde Central Kitchen at 5303 S. Cedar St (Building 1), Lansing. Volunteers are needed on Sunday January 20 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Sunday from 1:30-3:30 p.m., and Monday, January 21 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Taking place each third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’ ” The answer could be helping local seniors access healthy, nutritious meals through Meals On Wheels, which provided almost 500,000 nutritious meals in 2018 to seniors in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties.

Individuals or groups are welcome to help prepare and package items for cold sacks and frozen meals that are delivered with hot meals to older adults and adults with disabilities. Those interested in participating on one or more days are asked to call 517-887-1377. Information is also available for ongoing volunteer opportunities for meal deliveries across the area. Training with experienced volunteers is provided.
