Friends of the Maple River meet March 20

The Friends of the Maple River (FOMR) will hold their March Bi-Monthly meeting at the East Olive Community Center at 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, March 20.

This month FOMR is pleased to have Chad Fedewa, Wildlife Biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, as our presenter. Mr. Fedewa will be focusing his presentation on an update of the MDNR’s efforts to contend with Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in the deer herd within Michigan. We recognize this subject matter to extend beyond more typical watershed management pursuits and welcome and encourage anyone that may have interest in the topic to attend.

A business meeting will follow the presentation, with a focus on a recap of the Quite Water Symposium, final preparations for the River Clean Up scheduled April 13th, and making arrangements for a Float Trip this summer.

The Center is located at 2583 E. Green Road, South East of St. Johns, Michigan. (former East Olive Elementary School) The public is welcome and there is no charge to attend. It is also a chance to check out the new community center and all of it’s activities.

As always, check the website http://www.friendsofthemapleriver.org/ or find them on Facebook at Friends of the Maple River to stay in touch with what FOMR is up to.
