Meet the Fresh Food Fairy April 29

 

Join folks at the Briggs District Library for an exciting presentation involving eating, touching, smelling, and creating faces out of fresh veggies. Participants will also be able to take a turn on the Bike Blender, and make delicious samples of smoothies.

This free family program is open to all ages, but the information and activities will be geared toward children in preschool-5th grade.

Soup kitchen makes stops in area

His Cup Runneth Over, a mobile soup kitchen, will be making a stop at

– First Congregational Church, 100 Maple Ave, St. Johns 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, April 30 and – – – First Baptist Church/Beacon of Hope (northwest parking lot), 512 S. US 27, St. Johns from 12-1:30 pm, Thursday, May 2 and at
– The Meadows of St. Johns, 2265 W. Parks Rd., St. Johns, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2.

Mint City Garden Club meets May 2

The monthly meeting of Mint City Garden Club will be held Thursday, May 2, at 7:15 p.m.

The speaker will be from the Michigan Wildflower Farm in Portland, MI.

Meetings are held at Clinton Commons Community Center, 1105 S. Scott Rd. Visitors are welcome to attend.

St. Johns Spring Clean-Up coming up May 11

Spring Clean-Up is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, 2019. Please do not place items out by the curb before Saturday, May 4th but all items must be out by 6:00 am on Saturday, May 11th. Items placed out after the contractors has passed through will not be picked up.

This event is for City residents only who live in one to four unit dwellings. Property owners of these units pay a refuse fee on their summer taxes. Apartment buildings over four units, commercial/industrial properties and the trailer park are not eligible for the Spring Clean-up. City residents please do not allow non-residents to place refuse in front of your property. City police will be monitoring Non-City resident trash dumping. All violators may be prosecuted and fined $500.

Hearing & Vision Screening Clinic

Vision screening is required for all children entering kindergarten. The Mid-Michigan District Health Department offers free vision testing, as well as hearing screening tests for all children ages 3 to 21. WIC Benefit Pick-Up Schedule

Pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to 5 years old may be eligible for free food through the WIC (Women, Infants & Children) program. The Mid-Michigan District Health Department WIC Benefit Pick-up Clinics are scheduled as follows:

May 22: at Valley Farms Baptist Church, 1141 E State Rd, Lansing,
from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
