Gregory A. Frost
Gregory A. Frost died Friday, May 24, 2019 at Ogden Regional Medical Center at the age of 51. He was born September 27, 1967 in St. Johns, MI the son of Charles and Dawn (King) Frost. After graduation from Edwardsburg High School, Greg attended Ferris State University. He is a NASCAR fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and most anything that was associated with the outdoors. Greg was a college football enthusiast, especially when it came to Arkansas and Michigan.
Surviving is his mother Dawn; one sister Angie (Brian) Hostetler; niece, Madison and nephew, Drew; two uncles, Doug (Christine) King, Jack (Julie) Frost, one aunt, Jean (Dennis) Johnson and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles and grandparents, Charlie and Shirley Frost and Earl and Doris King.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 31, 2019 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Rev. Matthew Olson officiating. Interment will follow at Sowle Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 PM until service time on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Adam Mahoney
I was not yours, but God’s alone. He loved me best and took me home. –from a gravestone on Mackinac Island.
Adam Mahoney, age 26, passed into eternal life on May 26, 2019. Adam was born in the summer of 1992 to Stephen and Susan Mahoney of St. Johns. He attended Clinton County RESA and received his certificate of completion in June, 2018. He charmed numerous caregivers through the years with his personality and mischievous sense of humor. Adam liked black animal toys, purple kool-aid, and collecting string. He looked forward to Christmas all year long.
He will be missed by his parents, brothers Ben and Tim, grandparents Theresa Mahoney and Gerald and Evelyn Schmitt, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 31, 2019. The family will receive visitors at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, on Thursday, May 30, 2019, 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to CCRESA Educational Center or to Residential Options Inc. of Okemos in appreciation for the important roles they had in Adam’s life.
Patricia J. Daugherty
Patricia J. Daugherty, age 77 died at the home of her daughter on Saturday, May 25, 2019. She was born on October 15, 1941 in Bedford Indiana and graduated from St. Johns High School. She was married to Oliver Daugherty on January 14, 1967, and he preceded her in death in 2016.
Pat worked as a manager for several years at McDonalds in St. Johns.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Mike) Vitek of Fowler; 2 grandchildren, Dan and Amanda Vitek and great grandchildren, McKenzie, Lucas, Dominic and Kaylee.
At her request there will be no services. The family is being served by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home.
Jessie Elizabeth Kaufman
Jessie Elizabeth (Patterson) “Pat” Armstrong Kaufman, age 93, formerly of DeWitt and St. Johns, Michigan passed away on May 25, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society Village in Moscow, Idaho. Jessie was born on August 19, 1925, the third of four daughters to Erford Z. and Bessie F. (Myers) Patterson and grew up on the family’s 200-acre farm on Bauer Road, Northeast of Fowler, Michigan.
After graduation from Fowler High School in 1943, “Pat” began a long secretarial career with employment at the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors Corp., Lundberg Screw Products Co., and DeWitt Public Schools. She was married to Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Armstrong from October 27, 1945 until his passing on February 2, 1978. Fate reunited her with high school sweetheart Walter Kaufman, Jr. and they enjoyed nearly 25 years of marriage from August 25, 1979 until his passing on March 27, 2004.
Hobbies included ceramics and many forms of needlework, creating countless keepsakes for friends and relatives. She loved to travel, play cards and was an avid reader.
Jessie was predeceased by: her parents; both husbands; sisters Lucille (Cecil) Boak, Arlene (Willard) Wing, Rose Mary (Paul) Heller; daughter-in-law Judy D. (Kirk) Armstrong; step-granddaughter Trudy (Kaufman) Rogers. Surviving are: sons Kent (Judy A.) Armstrong and Kirk (Paula) Armstrong; step-son Herman Kaufman; step-daughter Rebecca Kaufman; grand children Douglas (Pennie) Armstrong, Nicole (Derek) Maysura, Jennifer (Kevin) Wilcox; eight step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; fourteen step-great grandchildren; one step-great, great grandchild.
Mrs. Kaufman requested that there be no services and that memorials be sent to Briggs District Library, 108 E. Railroad St., St. Johns, MI 48879.
Robert Leon Hurst
Robert Leon Hurst, age 56 of St. Johns, MI, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 27, 2019 from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns.
Robert was born in St. Johns, MI on May 8, 1963, the son of Paul E. and Margaret E. (Moore) Hurst. Rob was a St. Johns High School graduate. He resided most of his life in St. Johns. Rob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed electronics. He was knowledgeable in technology and stereo equipment. Rob was always willing to help others. He did many multi media projects for friends and family over the years. For the last number of years, Rob was a caring companion for his father, Paul.
Rob is survived by his father Paul Hurst of St. Johns, MI; brother Mark and Gail Hurst of Carlsbad, CA; sister Laura and Steve Becker of Pottstown, PA; brother Dave and Felice Hurst of St. Johns, MI; sister Luanne and Chris Goffnett of Mt. Pleasant, MI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rob was preceded in death by his mother, Marge in January of 2005.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.
