Ice cream social is Sunday, August 25

Go on out to Lowe United Methodist Church at 5485 W Lowe Rd on Sunday, August 25 from 1 – 3 p.m. for Sloppy Joes, Hotdogs, Ice Cream and more. Join them for good food and fellowship. All are welcome.

There will be a free will offering at the door which will benefit a local charity.


Move for HAL on August 24

Are you looking for something fun to do with your friends and family? Are you not a golfer but would love to enjoy the scenery and beauty of The Emerald Golf Course? Then sign up for this 5k walk/run. It won’t disappoint and it’s for a good cause.

I Move for Hal became an official non profit organization in 2015. The purpose of our 501c3 is to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis and raise funds for a scholarship for a local St. Johns High School Senior and National MS Society-Michigan Chapter. One move at a time in memory of a great man, Hal Rice. Hoping one day there will be a cure for this horrible disease.

Course: Come experience The Gem of Mid-Michigan, The Emerald Golf Course, on a different level. Picture yourself running thru a state of the art golf course surrounded by stately Maples and tall great Oaks. The sounds of wildlife surround you as you run along the rolling fairways. 5k run/walk, all abilities and ages welcome.

Packet Pick Up: Swing by the The Emerald Golf Course the night before the race from 4pm-7pm to grab your packet and enjoy a bite to eat. Race Day Morning packet pickup and registration starts at 7:00 am.

The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted during the race and online at Playmakers.com.

This race is endorsed by The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and part of the 2019 Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness.


Unplug your child for a day is September 7

In an effort to introduce Michigan youth to the outdoors, partners of Pheasants Forever are hosting the 19th Annual Clinton County, Chuck Gorman Youth Day, the event is taking place Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Fowler Conservation Club, located 2.5 miles South of Fowler, at 3580 S Wright Rd, Fowler, MI 48835. Come anytime, but get there early enough for all the activities before the event ends at 2 p.m.

Volunteers from Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Friends of the Maple River (FOMR) and Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) with be manning the different stations during the event.

This is a free event, open to children ages 5-15 years old, who must attend with a Parent/Guardian. It will provide hands-on outdoor-oriented activities for the participating youth. Free lunch and drinks will also be provided to all attending.

Chuck Gorman Youth Day was created to introduce young people to the outdoors and educate them about activities such as, hunting, shooting sports, tracking, kayaking, fishing and conservation of our natural resources.

This year’s activities will include, shooting shotguns at flying clays and stationary targets, air rifle range, archery range, kayaking, animal track casting and more.

This year there will also be a free raffle for the kids, prizes including a kayak that will be raffled off, along with other prizes and give-a-ways for the kids attending the event.

His Cup Runneth Over, a mobile soup kitchen, will be making a stop at

– The Meadows of St. Johns, 2265 W. Parks Rd., St. Johns, from 3 pm to 5 pm, Thursday, August 22.
