St. Peter nears end of special worship services for 150th anniversary year

Hymns of praise for the 150th anniversary of St. Peter Lutheran Church were part of a special worship service on October 13 that featured musical selections sung by the St. Peter Adult Choir and St. Peter Lutheran School’s student choir. St. Peter Principal Paul Weismantel composed the lyrics for “A Firm Foundation We Will Lay,” and long-time St. Peter member Marion Koeppen wrote the lyrics for a composition sung by the adult choir.

Guest speaker for the service was Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth who served St. Peter for 25 years, 1987-2012.

St. Peter members and friends joined together at a dinner following the worship service, sharing memories of years gone by and viewing a history slideshow that spanned the beginning of the congregation in 1869 through 2012. The final installment of the series will be shown in December, concluding the 150th anniversary year.

To view the slideshow, please visit St. Peter’s web site, https://www.stpeterriley.org/ and click on “Our History” at the bottom of the page.

F.C. Mason group to hold Open House November 10

On November 10 the developers of the F.C. Mason property on Railroad Street will hold an open house to allow prospective tenants to see the completed units and start the application process. The public is also welcome to come see the Phase 1 units.

Waypoint Coffee hopes to be opening their shop in the historic building in the Fall of 2019.

This will be a smoke free building. To ensure that everyone is able to fully enjoy their public and private spaces there will be no smoking within 200 feet of the building, in the coffee shop or in the apartments.

The project continues to move toward occupancy. The weather has delayed infrastructure work, and they hope the weather will improve allowing them to complete sidewalks, water and the parking lot.

The East wing of the building will be completed in Phase 2, and the new Flats building at the corner of Spring and Higham is Phase 3. Estimated move-in for Phase 1 is end of November.

The grand opening for the building has yet to be scheduled. Once the hardscape is done and the Coffee shop is open, they will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony.
