Joseph Michael Menovske

Joseph “Joe” Michael Menovske died October 26, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Lansing on January 3, 1963 and graduated from St. Johns High School in 1981.

Joe is survived by his wife, Marea (Dunsmore) Menovske, and children, Bonnie Jo Menovske; Tyler Menovske; Katie Pioszak; Sara Fernholz and grandchildren Bristol Sabo and Steven and Irene Jackson. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Bonnie Menovske and is also survived by his siblings Carole (Gary Boersen) Menovske, Stephen Menovske, Denise Menovske, Matthew Menovske, Dawn Ching, and Deb (Steve) Shaughnessy.

A pubic visitation and lunch will take place on Saturday, November 2 from 12-1:30 p.m. at Faith Fellowship Church, 3955 East Price Road in St. Johns.


Fr. Michael J. Howell

Fr. Michael Joseph Howell was born on February 11, 1937 and passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019.

Fr. Howell was a resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan at the time of passing. He was born of the love of Clara (Mager) and Henry in the railroad town of Ottawa, Kansas on February 11, 1937 and came with his parents to Michigan’s water wonderland at the end of “The Great Depression” to grow up in and around the farm town of St. Johns. Michael attended St Joseph Catholic Grade School staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph and graduated from Rodney B. Wilson Public High School in 1956.

After three years of college he entered the seminary getting a B.A. from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a Masters from St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. He served for a year as a deacon at St. John Church, Davison, Michigan. After ordination to the priesthood in 1969 he served in St. Paul Parish, Owosso; St. Charles Parish, Coldwater; St. Joseph Parish, Battle Creek; St. Rose of Lima Parish, Hastings; and then as chaplain at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital; concluding his years of ministry as chaplain at the Motherhouse for the Sisters of Joseph, Nazareth.

God has given Michael many good people with whom to travel his years of faith into ever deeper wisdom and grace. For all of you he gives praise to God and to you he says Thanks for so much giving to the quality of his life. God is good!

Friends and Family will be received at 7:00 p.m. at 2929 Nazareth Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49048 Friday, November 1, 2019 where a wake will be held. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 1:30 Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Nazareth.


Dean Richard Parks

Dean Richard Parks graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School, St. Johns, in 1940. Dean worked for Rosevale Packing Co. in DeWitt, Lansing Motor Wheel Corp., and retired in 1984 from the Michigan State Police Dept. where he worked as an accountant.

Dean proudly served his country in the US Army Corps of Engineering from 1948 to 1952 in both Panama and Alaska. Following discharge, he remained in the Reserves, retiring in 1970 with the rank of Sergeant Major.

Dean and Arlene M. Seward were married on February 9, 1952 in Owosso, MI. They raised 3 children; 2 daughters and a son. Dean and Arlene enjoyed square dancing and danced with the Bath Shootin Stars for many years. Dean spent 22 winters in Mesa, Arizona. He resided in the same home in DeWitt Township for 60 years.

Dean is survived by his daughter, Janet Elayne (Martin) Blanchard of Grand Haven, Michigan, his son Richard Dean (Gretchen) Parks of Appleton, Wisconsin, and son-in-law Roger Whiting of Mason, Michigan; grandchildren, Jonathon William Boyce, Jaclyn Marie (Adam) Suchecki, Kathryn Arlene Parks, and Colton Dean Parks; great-granddaughters, Quinn Louise Suchecki and Caroline Ruth Suchecki sister-in-law Constance Seward, brother-in-law Rev. Edward Seward; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arlene Parks, sister Dorothy Irene (Parks) Law, daughter Lou Ann (Parks) Whiting, and son-in-law James William Boyce.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 2 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt Michigan with Rev. Edward Seward officiating. The family will greet visitors Friday November 1 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may made to Gunnisonville Cemetery or Careline Hospice of Jackson.


David L. Weber

David L. Weber, age 63 of rural St. Johns, loving husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly on October 25, 2019.

David was born in St. Johns, MI on September 18, 1956 to Mark and Henrietta (Kramer) Weber. David graduated from Fowler High School and on October 1, 1988 he married Susan Feldpausch. He worked for the State of Michigan (DTMB) and retired in 2013. David loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandsons. He was a John Deere enthusiast, loved farming, hunting, and was always there to help family, friends and neighbors. He was a member of the Fowler Conservation Club and the Mid-Michigan Old Gas and Tractor Association.

David is survived by his wife, Susan, daughters, Cassandra Weber of Eagle, Shanna Weber of St. Johns, his father Mark Weber and father-in-law Francis Feldpausch both of Fowler. His grandchildren, Jace Austin and Oliver Heffelbower. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, his wife’s family, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and co-workers who were like family to him. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dennis, his mother, Henrietta and his mother-in-law, Louise Feldpausch.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Most Holy Trinity Activity Center, 11159 W. Kent St. in Fowler on Monday, October 28, 2019, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. The Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 P. M. on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00 A. M. with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Memorial donations may be made to his grandchildren and future grandchildren’s education fund. Arrangements are being made by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
