Slips into Spring
If old man winter is tugging at your good nature, take heart you have a diversion in the form of a schedule of beading classes that begin this month and run through early May.
The series begins Feb. 24 with follow-up dates of March 3, 24, 31; April 28 and May 5. All will be held at the Clinton County Arts Council Gallery and run from 6:30p to 9p.

During the first session, Feb. 24 and March 3, students will create a bead cube bracelet, embellished with rows of coral-like fringe fashioned from various accent beads. According to instructor Deborah Laverty, this is “a stunner of a bracelet that will draw many compliments to the wearer.”
Registration for this class is $35.00 and can be made by contacting The Gallery – 989 224 -2429 or by calling Ms Laverty 517 775-0168.
Later, March 24 and 31, students will craft a bracelet of seed beads, incorporating herringbone and ladder stitches. The piece is relatively easy to fashion and appealing to the eye. Registration details are the same as previously mentioned.
The final two sessions, April 28 and May 5, students will have a choice of completing either a pin or pendant, using the bead embroidery technique which involves applying a ceramic face to a backing and then embellishing the piece with seed beads. Far less difficult that is sounds here with a gratifying result. Again, all registration details are the same as described above and minimum age for all classes is 14 years.
Additionally, students are encouraged to arrive about one-half hour before class time to select materials, which are included in registration.
