Arts Council C.A.T Sale

October 5, 6
Notice the abbreviation then head to your attic or perhaps the almost forgotten storage area in the basement. Assemble a collection of “unwanteds” and bring them to the Depot on Wednesday and Thursday, October 3rd and 4th between the hours of 12 noon and 7 p.m.
There they’ll become part of the inventory for the Arts Council’s Collectibles, Art & Treasures Sale, (C.A.T.!) also known as the annual yard/bake sale. The sale itself will occur at the Depot Friday and Saturday Oct. 5th and 6th.
Essentially, if you have something you no longer need or want, someone may and the Arts Council C.A.T. sale is the bridge over that gap. And, if you want everything you have, how about heating the oven and donating one of your favorite baked items. ‘Course, if all else fails, helping to set up or spending some time “selling” during the event would be helpful too.
“This is but one of the many fund raising efforts our members put forth during the year,” commented Executive Director Mike Muehlenbeck. “In the current economic environment, many grants for artistic endeavors are being cut – and even eliminated – so we must be resourceful.” He went on to point out that community support is much appreciated not only for the annual C.A.T. sale, but other Council activities as well. “An example,” he cited, “is the monthly Sunday event at the Gallery. We probably would have to cancel that series of open houses without local sponsors. Artists, like this month’s featured sculpture Tim Higgins, would not have the opportunity to display their work.”
When all the collecting is completed, the C.A.T. (yard/bake) sale will run Friday and Saturday Oct. 5th and 6th. Friday hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Additional information may be received by visiting the Gallery at 215 N. Clinton Ave. in St. Johns. The phone number there is (989)224-2429.
