Baker College of Owosso is offering a variety of workshops for the community in March.
Designed specifically for seniors (55+), Senior Savvy: Managing Files on your PC focuses on how and where to save and organize files on your computer. Save time and eliminate frustration by learning how to create folders to organize your files; save, copy and move files and folders; how to use CDs and flash drives to store documents and pictures; and how to find help on your computer. Novice computer users are welcome! (Cost includes a 2 GB Flash drive and a writable CD.) Scheduled for March 10 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bentley Campus.
Though change in our lives is inevitable, the stress of change can seem overwhelming. Managing Stress in Times of Change focuses on stress management techniques designed to equip a person with effective coping mechanisms for dealing with personal stressors (job loss, family concerns) or corporate change (like downsizing or reorganization). Explore the physiological responses to stress and learn effective techniques to cope with stressful situations, to set realistic goals and to align your attitude with positive outcomes. To be held on March 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Bentley Campus.
Job Searching on the Internet explores how to use Internet tools to find the right job for you! In this age of social networking and web-based communities, the new standard for job searching, networking, communication, and marketing is Web 2.0 tools. But if LinkedIn and Facebook are new to you, or you’re overwhelmed with where and how to start your job search, join us for this workshop designed for both non-technical professionals and job seekers. Learn about social networking, wikis, and blogs, and experience how they’re being used today in business and for job searching, networking and socializing. Scheduled for March 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Bentley Campus Room 1511.
March workshops also include a variety of Microsoft Office programs to help support your business and home activities.
