Get Connected @ Briggs
Registration is now open for the library’s newest computer class, “Making the Most of MeL.” MeL is the Michigan eLibrary, and it offers dozens of resources for all ages and interests – all for free! We will learn how to order items through interlibrary loan, how to find the next book you are sure to love, how to get homework help for students in elementary through college, and much more. Participants can choose between two sessions of this workshop offered on Wednesday, September 18 from 10-11a.m. or Wednesday, September 25 from 1-2p.m. A valid library card is required for this program, and registration is available online, in person, or by calling the library.
Toddler Storytime: “Curl Up With a Good Book”

Fall Fundraiser
Attention all scrap-bookers and crafters! The library will have numerous items for sale including, stamps, ink, pens, embossing plates, paper and more starting Monday, September 9th. Each item will cost 25 cents. Monies earned at this fundraiser will go towards youth programs. The fundraiser will last until the stock of items are gone or the end of September, whichever happens first. So bring your creative selves and your $ to help us out. It’s a win/win situation!
Chapter Chatter: The Beginning. . . The Middle. . . The End!
Lots of fun for kids ages 6-8 on Monday evenings, 7-8pm, October 28th – November 25th (NO session on Nov. 11th). Library staff selects and reads chapter books over the course of 4 weeks. The theme for this session is “story-telling” and we hope to have some guests visit with their own stories. There will be snacks, crafts and other activities as well. Registration is required and available online, by phone, or at the circulation desk beginning Monday, September 30th. It will be fun from the beginning to THE END!
Adult Book Clubs
There are still copies available of “The Other Wes Moore,” the September selection for the library’s adult book clubs. This fascinating book traces the lives to two young boys who grew up in similar rough circumstances, but whose adult lives ended very differently. Both sessions of the Bookaholics will meet on Thursday, September 19. The first session is at 12p.m. at the library, and participants are welcome to bring a light lunch if they would like. The second session is still at Bruno’s Bar in downtown St. Johns, and participants should be ages 21 and over.
