Don’t miss your chance to check out the Seekers. This St. Johns based paranormal investigation team will be sharing photos, audio and video clips, and will even allow guests the chance to use their investigative equipment first hand when they visit the library Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30. Adult Book Clubs
There are still copies available of “Blue Asylum,” the October selection for the library’s adult book clubs. This story, set during the Civil War, follows Iris Dunleavy, a woman wrongly committed to an asylum by her husband. Both clubs will meet to discuss the book on Thursday, October 17. The first session will meet at the library at 12p.m., and participants are welcome to bring a light lunch if they would like. The second session is still at Bruno’s in downtown St. Johns, and participants should be over the age of 21.
Jr. Readers Book Club
Kids ages 7-9 – Join in the fun for our next Junior Readers Book Club! We will meet on Monday, October 21 from 6:30-8 and will be discussing the book, “Sea Monsters Don’t Ride Motorcycles” by Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thorton Jones. Copies of the book will be available at the Library when registering. We’ll have a game and snack and special guests “Bikers for Books” will be joining us to read to the kids and talk about their love of reading and motorcycles! Registration is required.
iPad Class
Are you thinking of buying an iPad? Or do you have an iPad and don’t know how to use it? Sign up for our new iPad class at the Library. We’ll cover all the basics…set up, browsing the Web, e-mail, photos, games and some of the more common apps. Classes are Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. or Friday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. Registration is required and you must have a valid Briggs Library card to register.
LEGO Block Party
Registration is now open for the library’s first LEGO Block Party! This free program will be held at the train depot across the street from the library Saturday, October 26 from 10a.m. – 12p.m., and is open to children in grades K-5. There will be plenty of LEGOs available, so come ready to build!
Chapter Chatter: The Beginning . . . The Middle . . . The End!
Lots of fun for kids ages 6-8 on Monday evenings, 7-8pm, October 28th – November 25th (NO session on Nov. 11th). Library staff selects and reads chapter books over the course of 4 weeks. The theme for this session is “story-telling” and we hope to have some guests visit with their own stories. There will be snacks, crafts and other activities as well. Registration is required and available online, by phone, or at the circulation desk. It will be fun from the beginning to The End!
