Dream Big Read and more
Dream Big READ
Some of our Summer Storytimes still have spaces available. Our 10 am sessions for Toddlers and Pre-Readers are full but the 11:00 am sessions for both ages still have a few spaces left. The 10 am Lapsit and the evening Prime Time sessions also have some spots available, so register now for “dreamy books, music and movement”. Remember to come in and register any time after Monday, June 4th for our Summer Reading Program.
Also mark your calendar for the Summer Finale: “Star lab Planetarium” Tuesday, July 24th 6-8 p.m. We will explore the wonders of the night skies at the library from the comfort of an inflatable Mylar silver dome! This quality educational program is entertaining for the whole family. The library will provide (4) half-hour sessions (same program). Star lab registration begins June 26th and is required for each person attending.
Jr. Readers Book Club
Youth ages 7-9 are invited to join the summer reading fun on Monday June 25th from 7:00-8:00pm. Register for the program and pick up a copy of the discussion book Alien Ice Cream by David Anthony and Charles David at the circulation desk. The program will include a game, a craft and ice cream treats. Child or their responsible adult must have a valid Library card to sign up for the program.
Ghost Hunters
There is still space available for the SouthEast Michigan Ghost Hunters Society program. The presentation will consist of pictures, audio, and video clips from investigations that have taken place all across the country, as well as a short Q and A session. Believers and non-believers alike can join us for this free family program Thursday, June 7th from 6-8pm. Please register today by calling or visiting the library.
Bookaholics Book Club
Attention Bookaholics! Your copy of “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel is now available at the Briggs Library circulation desk. Read the book before Thursday, June 21st, and then join us for a relaxed discussion at 7pm at Bruno’s Bar in downtown St. Johns. Stop by the library for more information about this title, or the others we will read this summer. The Bookaholics Book Club is open to all adult patrons over the age of 21 who have a valid library card.
eReader Program
Do you have an eReader? Come to our class and learn how to borrow free eBooks from the library. This class covers all the basics — setup, downloading, and which devices support library eBooks. We’ll demonstrate the checkout, download and transfer process through Overdrive and answer all your eReader questions. You’re welcome to bring your device, though it is not required. Two class times available on Tuesday, June 5 from 10:00-11:00 a.m or 7:00-8:00 p.m. Registration is required and you must have a valid Library card to sign up.
Park and Read Program
The DNR and the Library of Michigan are offering the Park and Read Program again this summer. The Program allows Briggs Public Library resident cardholders to check-out a free one day vehicle permit for use at any Michigan state park or recreation area. This is a $6 savings. The Pass is valid for one use within seven days of check out and is for day use only, 8 am to 10pm. The Pass cannot be used for overnight camping or for access to boating access sites or ranges. Stop by the circulation desk for more information or to check out a PASS. Take time this summer to enjoy a good book in Michigan’s great outdoors.
