Gotta Grill?

Join your friends and neighbors in Downtown St. Johns for our community barbecue “SUMMERFEST – The FIRST Barbecue of Summer” on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Bring your own grill from home, your choice of meat and your own secret recipe for your friends and family to enjoy! Grilling begins at 6:00 p.m. Do you have serious grill skills?
Avid barbecue grilling enthusiasts can also participate in our SUMMERFEST BBQ Grilling Contest. This BBQ competition is open to anyone interested in showcasing their personal barbecue skills. The food prepared by the contestants will be tasted and judged by an independent Summerfest BBQ Grilling Contest judging panel, and awards will be given for best placements based on flavor, creativity and presentation. BBQ contest rules and entry form available at www.DowntownStJohns.org.

Great tasting barbecue will also be available for sale, offered by the Clinton Northern Railway Museum as a fundraiser benefiting the historic rail car restoration at the Train Depot. Various children’s activities will be available at the Clinton Northern Railway Museum located inside the Depot building, along with marvelous model train exhibits, authentic railroad artifacts and tours of the historic train cars on the rails outside.
Adults can enjoy barbecue in our Downtown on Tap beverage tent while listening to live music from the St. Johns Community Band, and later from the “Smooth Daddy” band. Radio personalities will also be on hand to conduct live on air feeds on Z92.5-The Castle radio station.
While enjoying the live entertainment after dinner, adults can partake in Vegas style CASINO gaming until 12 midnight.  So come enjoy great barbecue, hot music, cold drinks and casino gaming in Downtown St. Johns on Saturday, June 25 from 6:00 p.m. until 12 midnight.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the St. Johns Principal Shopping District, a non-profit business organization promoting Downtown St. Johns, Michigan. So bring your family, friends and neighbors to celebrate the FIRST Barbecue of Summer at SUMMERFEST in Downtown St. Johns.
