Pink-Ribbon Affair to showcase student art

Raise funds for cancer patients
For the second year in a row, Carson City Hospital’s cathedral-ceiling front lobby will be transformed into an elegant world of pink for the highly anticipated Pink Ribbon Affair. This year’s event will take place the evening of Thursday, October 13.
“We weren’t sure what to expect last year, and were just so thrilled at the amazing turnout and incredible energy of this unique event,” said Pink Ribbon Affair Coordinator and Carson City Hospital’s Breast Health Navigator Andrea Russell, R.N. “More than 600 community members and cancer survivors filled the lobby, bidding on art, enjoying hors d’oeuvres, and helping us raise funds for our important cancer survivorship program and breast health program here at the hospital.”

Butterflies will be the theme this year at the fundraiser on October 13.
The Pink-Ribbon Affair will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. It will feature an auction showcasing artwork from students in the local community, a pink-themed silent auction, a chocolate fountain, pink treats and hors d’oeuvres, live music, and a multitude of door prizes. Local breast cancer survivors will be special guests of honor at the event.
“We have a fantastic team at Carson City Hospital which works together to help our patients navigate through the complex web of managing their breast health,” said Dr. Donna Moyer, Carson City Hospital’s Chief of Radiology and the event’s emcee. “We’re inviting the whole community to attend this unique fundraiser designed to let more people know about our great services, such as digital mammography, while raising funds for breast health education and patient support services. Just like it was last year, it’s going to be a very special evening.”
Dozens of community organizations and businesses have donated door prizes and silent auction items, with major sponsorship being provided by Blue Care Network.
This event is free to the public. Each attendee is invited to wear all pink, a little pink, or just a splash of pink in order to have his or her name entered into a drawing to win a pink NetBook computer donated by CMS Internet.
