Get fit with new Silver Sneakers® program

At Sparrow Clinton Hospital Fitness Center
Regular physical activity combined with good nutrition is the cornerstone to building a healthy lifestyle at any age, but the benefits for people age 65 and older are especially remarkable.
So Sparrow Clinton Hospital Fitness Center decided to partner with Silver Sneakers®, a health and fitness program designed specifically for qualifying Medicare clients.
Silver Sneakers participants receive a free fitness club membership and 30-minute orientation program, plus access to two Silver Sneakers ® fitness classes per week. Members have access to any gym or fitness center offering a Silver Sneakers® program.
“It’s a great program with easy access for the member,” says Ruth Thompson, SCH Fitness Center Manager. “As a program partner, equipment and training is provided to our staff and we report member use of our facility through a card swipe/tracking system each month for reimbursement by a corporate provider.”
SCH Fitness Center hosts two classes a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 9:15 am. These Silver Sneakers® Classic classes promote muscular strength and range of movement for total body conditioning. An instructor guides participants through functional daily exercise activities with resistance tools used at each attendee’s own pace. The class is designed to improve overall strength, flexibility, posture and balance.
