As part of a year-long celebration of Carson City Hospital’s 75th anniversary, Monday, August 1, is Founder’s Day.
August 1 is the birthday of Dr. Emmett Binkert, who founded Carson City Hospital in his humble home in 1936. The public is invited to stop into the hospital’s main lobby throughout the day on August 1 to enjoy interesting historical displays, with cake, punch and live piano music from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m

Monday, August 1
Come and enjoy cake, punch, live piano music, and a tour of our History Hall, showcasing displays featuring:
• the hospital’s founding in 1936 by Dr. Binkert in what was then his home;
• the intern training program;
• the major addition in 1957;
• the community-wide testimonial held for Dr. Binkert in 1966;
• the tenure of Donald McKenna, administrator from 1946-1981;
• the transition that began in 1979 to the leadership of Bruce L. Traverse, current president/CEO
Stop by the lobby from 2 to 4 p.m. for cake, punch and live piano music, and enjoy a historical display throughout the day.
