St. Johns Area Community Fund reaches 5th year

Committed to improve life for residents
In 5 years SJACF has provided about $3,000 for community projects and assisted in grant applications resulting in $5,000 from Jackson National Life for the Spray Park. We started a project to provide luggage tags to graduating seniors. The tags are accompanied by a note to consider St. Johns as top place to live, work and raise a family.
All good work. But impactful?
Impactful is $8,000 to each elementary school for winter clothing for kids without.
The Gratiot County Community Foundation with a $9,000,000 endowment does this annually. We must grow the endowment to become a meaningful force for good in our community.
SJACF endowment has grown from an initial $14,000 to nearly $50,000 today.
Capital Region Community Foundation (CRCF) holds and manages the endowment. Each year CRCF provides SJACF 5% of our 3 year average endowed balance to use toward our charitable purpose. This year our endowment provided about $1,500 for our community investment.
So it’s Thanksgiving.
All of us on the SJACF Board of Directors express our thankfulness for the lifetime gifts we have received by choosing the St. Johns area as our home. We express our appreciation by our volunteer efforts and by financially supporting SJACF.
Please reflect; then send a check to help us to make positive change in our community.
Looking to the future, SJACF chairperson Craig Bishop says, “Endowments grow fast with gifts from estates, trusts, IRA’s and Insurance. Four families have made their lifetime gifts known to us. If you’re number five, please call me to discuss.”
