National Women Build Week
More than 13,000 volunteers are expected to partner with 300 Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country to help build affordable housing in their local communities in recognition of National Women Build Week, May 3-11. Now in its seventh year, National Women Build Week challenges women to devote at least one day to the effort to eliminate poverty housing.
In Clinton County on Saturday, May 10 more than 30 volunteers, including Sen. Judy Emmons, Rep. Tom Leonard’s wife Jenell Leonard, and numerous influential members of the community will work on the Weber family’s new home.
Longtime event partner Lowe’s is conducting an in-store how-to clinic at its Delta Township store where volunteers can learn construction skills in preparation for the build event.
A 9:30 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony will be open to the public. Remarks will be made by the partner family as well as L Quinn Lincoln-Keon, executive director. This year’s partner family includes Rebbeca and Ryan Weber and their daughter Kelseigh.
The new building site is located at 1523 S. Lansing St. in St. Johns.
