Yellow Jug
Sparrow Clinton Pharmacy is doing its part to help protect Michigan’s water supply by offering patrons the opportunity to “Yellow Jug Old Drugs” via the Great Lakes Clean Water Initiative.
Flushing or pouring expired or unused medications down the drain chemically pollutes Michigan’s water supply. Pharmacy patrons can bring their expired, unused liquid, tablet or capsule drugs to Sparrow Clinton Pharmacy for disposal in a Yellow Jug.
The following rules apply to Yellow Jug recycling:
– No Controlled Substances. Controlled substances can only be reclaimed during scheduled/advertised Medication Disposal dates in conjunction with the St. Johns Police Department & Clinton County Waste Management.
– No inhalers or patches or sharps.
– Accepted tablets, liquids or capsules must be placed directly in the Yellow Jug by the person disposing of them.
– Drugs must be transported to the Pharmacy in the original containers or packaging.
– All empty containers and packaging must be disposed of by the individual doing the recycling – not at the Pharmacy.
The Yellow Jug program is one more example of how Sparrow Clinton Hospital offers “green” alternatives to help protect Michigan’s landmark resource – its beautiful Great Lakes.
