Arts Council schedules Children’s Art Classes

September, October
Budding artists in the younger set – ages 6 to 13 – will have an opportunity to experience the art of painting along with a bit of creative sculpturing during a pair of children’s art classes scheduled for Saturday September 21 and again on Saturday October 12. The classes, which will be conducted at the Depot, are being sponsored by Clinton County Arts Council and sessions will be divided into two age groups, six to nine and 10 to 13.
“Hooty Owl,” lower left, was originally a pine cone; and the painting began as a blank canvas.
Morning classes both dates will run from 10 a.m. to noon and held for students in the younger group. The older students will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. A $12.00 fee for each class includes all necessary supplies. During the September sessions, students will create a painting depicting a stand of birch trees. October’s effort will sculpt a “hooty Owl” from a pine cone.
Samples of what students will create are on display at the Arts Council Gallery, 215 N. Clinton Ave. in St. Johns. Information regarding these classes – and other Council related activities – can be obtained by calling 989 224-2329 or visiting clintoncountyarts.com.
