Marks leadership changes
Recognition and repartee, traditional elements of the St. Johns Kiwanis gatherings, joined to lend spirit to the club’s annual dinner marking leadership changes along with service recognition and honors.

Kiwanis outgoing President Marcia Peterson presents Hal Rice with a certificate confirming his selection as “Kiwanian of the Year.”
One of the club’s highest tributes, “Kiwanian of the Year,” was accorded Hal Rice who has demonstrated the object of Kiwanis through his ever present willingness to respond. Rice has demonstrated his readiness to assist, by not only volunteering to work on numerous club projects, but also by assuming leadership roles providing inspiration to others. His honor resulted from a membership vote. Club Secretary Laurie Bishop introduced Rice and presented him with a certificate recognizing his selection.
Ms. Bishop also conferred perfect attendance in years recognition on the following members:

In other matters, new officers and board members were installed for the 2012-2013 year. Greg Teichman will lead the club as president, assisted by president-elect Rhoda Hacker. Shannon Schlegal will serve as secretary and Jim Gunther will resume his position as club treasurer. Marcia Peterson is immediate past president.
Board members for the term are Mike Zigler, Tony Hufnagel and Theresa Fedewa-Wells. Nan Simons and Marilyn Thelen were elected to serve through the 2012-2014 Kiwanis years.
The annual event was held at the Emerald Golf Course and featured a prime rib dinner, preceded by a social period.
