Longoria, Cowboy Intervention coming up

June 26 at Concert in the Park
Local Country music favorites Louie Longoria and Cowboy Intervention take the stage June 26 for the weekly Concert in the Park series at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell. There is no admission charge for the toe-tapping, foot-stomping concert that begins at 7 p.m.

Longoria has been in the music business for over 20 years, sharing the stage with Grand Ole Opry legends and opening for Johnny Cash’s brother, Tommy, during his 2002 Michigan tour. He paired with Tommy on duets of “Six White Horses” and “I Walk The Line Revisited” – a #1 song for Louie. He is working on a duet CD with Tommy Cash and The Cash Crew.
Longoria’s relaxed humor and fine singing style blends well with Cowboy Intervention. The assembly of skilled Country artists includes Pat Kenealy and Todd Hunt on lead guitar and vocals. Kenealy worked with Sun Recording artist Johnny Powers and had the privilege of sharing a gig with and meeting Carl Perkins. More recently he has played with local bands Slingshot and Cryn Wolf. Hunt played in various rock bands all over Michigan early in his career before finding his way to Country music. In addition to his skill on guitar, Hunt is a master musician on other instruments like pedal steel and mandolin.
Adding to the mix of Cowboy Intervention are Fritz Geil on Fender bass and vocals, and percussionist Jeff Dietrich. Geil has fronted for numerous groups over the years and sung in bands covering everything from Randy Travis to Elvis and the Beach Boys. He has also worked as a session musician for Mackado Sound in Lansing. Country music has always been in Dietrich’s musical index, first listening to artists like Glen Campbell and Roger Miller and later Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt.
Combining the harmonies of Cowboy Intervention with Longoria’s vocals creates a sound that takes listeners back to “yesterday’s Country” – and “new Country” with a few other surprises. Check them out in advance of the concert on Facebook or at www.cowboy-intervention.com
