At the Mint Festival

Kids Events, Photo Contest and Cooking Contest
Kids will have plenty to keep them busy at the 2012 St. Johns Mint Festival. All weekend long the festival will host Kids World which includes games for .25. There will be lots of prizes to win. On Sunday its Kids Day where the games continue, but there is also crafts for .25 and more prizes. Both of these events are held in the open pavilions on the county fairgrounds.

Of course there’s lots more for kids such as laser tag, petting zoo, pony rides, miniature golf, plus the mint chocolate pudding eating contest, children’s parade and so many other events kids can participate in such as the quilt show, cooking contest and sports events.
There are two new events this year for kids. The Princess and Hero Party is on Sat, Aug 11 from 1-3 pm (come dressed as your favorite princess and hero) – the cost is only $1 for refreshments, pictures, prizes and fun. There is also a Carnival that will be right by the pavilions in the county fairgrounds. There will be 8-9 rides, mostly for children 12 and under, 2-3 game tents and a couple food wagons.
The Mint Festival is currently accepting photo entries for their Photo Contest. Each person can submit up to 5 photos. The photos must be at least 8″X10″ and matted. The photos must be taken in Michigan.
The Festival is also accepting entries into the annual Mint Cooking Contest. Mint Desserts will be accepted for the contest – they must be taken to Smith Hall on the county fairgrounds on Sat, Aug 11 and the portions must be in bite size pieces.
