Kathleen Ryan
Kathleen Ryan died August 29, 2011, at the age of 89. Born June 10, 1922, in Sheldon, Illinois, the daughter of William and Rebecca (Sowders) Wickiser. Kathleen formerly worked for Redmonds in Ithaca, she attended the Congregational Christian Church in Maple Rapids and was a member of Church of Christ in Sheldon, IL. On February 19, 1949, she married John Ryan and he preceded her in death July 27, 1989.
Kathleen is survived by one son, Lee (Patricia) Duttenhaver of Maple Rapids, ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, son-in-law, Jerry (Shirley) Cairl, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Cairl, four grandsons, Steven, Alan, Tracy and Randy Cairl, and four sisters, Maude Farney, Louise Whitney, Joan Follick, and Pearl Benjamin.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Abbott Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, Maple Rapids, burial at Payne Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Osgood Funeral Homes.
Troy L. Miller
Troy L. Miller, died August 27, 2011, at the age of 48. He was born on December 11, 1962, a lifelong resident of Fowler and the son of LaVern and Lynne (Rahl) Miller. Troy worked for 12 years at Most Holy Trinity Catholic School. He is probably best known as an avid cyclist, most proud to have completed 3 trans-continental tours.
Troy is survived by his parents, LaVern and Lynne, sisters, Amanda (Ed) Miller Drown, Jennifer (Dan) Hufnagel, brothers, Todd (Sue) Miller and Eric Miller, nieces, Danielle Hufnagel and great niece Ava Hufnagel, nephews, Scott and Jeremy Miller and Andy and Jason Hufnagel. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Leona Miller and Merlyn and Genevieve Rahl.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday August 31, 2011 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday August 30 at the Goerge Chapel in Fowler with a Rosary being prayed at 4 p.m.

Geneva L. Thelen
Geneva L. Thelen died August 29, 2011, at the age of 93. She was born in Westphalia on May 6, 1918, the daughter of William and Odelia (Simon) Fedewa. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, and the Ladies Altar Society. Geneva married Gregory Thelen in Westphalia on August 19, 1939, and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2001.
She is survived by four daughters, Nancy Richardson, Diane Thelen, Teresa (Mike) McClaran, all of Colorado and Linda (Dan) Smith of Dewitt, one son, Robert (Ruth) Thelen of St. Johns, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one sister, Frances (Roy) Frechen of Fowler. Preceding her in death along with her husband, Gregory, is grandson, Scott Richardson, brother, Celester Fedewa, sisters, Rosella Theis and Eleanor Freund.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason presiding. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Mary’s Chapel, Westphalia with a Rosary being prayed at 8 p.m.

Richard L. Parmenter II
Richard L. Parmenter II, age 57, suddenly passed away Friday, August 19, 2011. Rick was born in St Johns on February 21, 1954. The son of Richard L. Parmenter Sr and the late Josephine (Secord) Parmenter. He married Jodi (Jones) Parmenter on August 22, 1997. Rick retired from the City of St Johns DPW after 32 years.
Rick is survived by his wife Jodi and children, Richard L. Parmenter III; William (Kelly) Parmenter; Nicole (Kevin) Brasseur; Nathan (Ashley Tomasek) Covert and 5 beautiful grandchildren.
At Rick’s request there will be no funeral. The family was served by Swanson Funeral Home
Enoch Thomas “Tom” White III
Enoch Thomas “Tom” White III, age 72, passed away August 24, 2011. He was born December 27, 1938 in Gladwin. Tom graduated from St. Johns High School, class of 1957, and attended Adrian College. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years, and then worked at Michigan State University for 39 years, retiring in 2004. Tom’s loves include his family, his church, Point Nipigon, the Tigers, and, of course, the Spartans.
Surviving are his son, William E. White and daughter-in-law, Cynthia, of Staten Island, NY; grandchildren, William Thomas White and Ryan Nicholas White; sister-in-law, Jane Penton White and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch “Ink” and Barbara White, twin brother, Henry and brother, Jonathon R. White.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011, at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1519 Elmwood Rd., Lansing, with The Rev. Carol Spangenberg officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jonathon R. White Fund at Capital Region Community Foundation in memory of E. Thomas White.
MaryAnn E. Hengesbach
MaryAnn E. Hengesbach, age 71, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. She was born August 23, 1940 and raised by Roman and Elizabeth Thelen. MaryAnn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Society and the choir. She was a 4H Leader, enjoyed working in catering and volunteered many hours at Hospice for 27 years. MaryAnn loved reading, gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judy.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Fred; children JoAnn (Ron) Simon, Sharon (Jerry) Thelen, Cindy (Tom) Schrauben, Kevin (Jennifer) Hengesbach, Susie (Eric) Simon and Sandy (Matt) Klein; 19 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gene (Kathy) Hengesbach.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Sylvester Fedewa and Rev. John Klein at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 29, 2011 at St. Mary’s Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosaries will be prayed 3 and 8 p.m., Saturday and 3 p.m., Sunday. The Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m., Sunday. Arrangements are with Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland.

Fern June Devereaux, 81, of Foley. Ala., formerly of St. Johns, died August 4, 2011.

Richard K. Cook
Richard K. Cook, passed away August 24, 2011, at the age of 60. He was born on April 24, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Vernon and Goldie Mae (Earls) Cook. Rich married Diane Gillespie on November 11, 1993 in Okemos, Michigan and she survives him. Rich was a substitute school teacher for Clinton County, a member of the National Rifle Association and retired from the State of Michigan as an Industrial Hygienist with MIOSHA.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Richard (Ashley Oswald) Cook II, Chris (Casey J.) Gillespie and Dominic (Mallorie) Gillespie; grandson, Lennon Warner Gillespie and members of the Manshum, Nurenburg and Sims families. Rich is also survived by his sister Donna (Steve) Burghdoff; brother, Lyle Cook; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Mike) Kavanagh and Laurie (Al) Pennell; brother-in-law, Bob Middaugh and many nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Middaugh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends, 6-8 Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday with a vigil service at 7 pm on Monday. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to Gift of Life Foundation or the National Rifle Association.

Paul M. Minarik
Paul M. Minarik died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the age of 80. He was born June 18, 1931 in Tarentum, PA the son of Andrew and Anna (Koreni) Minarik. Paul was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an usher, helped count collections, was a member of the Befrienders Group, served as a Eucharistic Minister for 20 years including taking communion to the homebound and to hospital patients. He served on the St. Joseph School Board and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the V.F.W. and a member of U.A.W. Local #602. Paul was a farmer and retired from Fisher Body Inspection Repair after 33 years. Paul married Barbara Biddle on October 29, 1955 and she survives him.
Also surviving is one daughter, Linda (Michael) Fox of St. Johns; three sons Ron, Gerald (Dena) all of St. Johns and Don (Shawn) of Perry; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Andrew (Marjorie) and Vincent all of Elsie, and Joseph (Viola) of Fowler; one sister, Elizabeth (John) Kirby of Elsie and one sister-in-law Judy Minarik of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by an infant son David and a brother Steve.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, August 29, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday and Sunday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. A K of C rosary will be prayed at 8:00 PM Saturday and a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School.
Ernest Frederick Huss
Ernest Frederick Huss, age 86, of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Clinton Memorial Hospital, St. Johns, Michigan.
There will be no services.
Ernest was born in Ashley, Michigan on June 9, 1925, the son of Francis and Ruby (Bolyard) Huss. He graduated from Fulton High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Ernest married Ellen Halstead on April 5, 1952, in Angola, IN. Ernest worked at Federal Mogul for 35 years. He loved fishing and tinkering in his home shop. Ernest lived most of his life in Clinton County. He was a member of the St. Johns V.F.W., American Legion, and Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Ellen Huss of St. Johns, MI, daughter Debbie Shipley of St. Johns, MI, son Jeff and Karen Huss of St. Louis, MI, son Willie and Beth Huss of St. Johns, MI. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and his sister Laura Powers.
The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, Michigan.
Rita J. Teremi
Rita J. Teremi, formerly of Ovid, MI. died Monday, August 22, 2011 at the age of 87. She was born December 29, 1923 in Altona, MI the Daughter of Leroy and Jesse (Tripp) Griffin she resided in Shepardsville for 55 years. She married Benjamin Teremi in November, 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1976. Rita helped as a cook and server at Senior Citizen dinners in Ovid, and enjoyed crossword, Jigsaw, and various other puzzles.
She is survived by Daughters; Sonja (Raymond) Page of Mayfield, KY and Jean (John) Barrett of Carson City. Sons; Kenneth (Sandy) of Bath and Dennis (Judy) of South Point, OH. Grandsons; Gary Page, Tony Barrett, Brad Barrett, Kenneth Teremi Jr. Troy Teremi, Bradley Teremi, Grandaughter, Amy Barrett. Brothers Wilbert and Donald Griffin. Sisters Elma Arnold, Ila Kost, Deana Moore and Virginia Dunn; 8 Great grand children and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson Ronald Page as well as brothers Harold, Robert, and Jack.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday August 26, 2011 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home with Pastor Judy Hazel officiating. Burial at Deepdale Memorial Park, Lansing, MI. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. John J. Ladiski, age 92, of Elsie, MI passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church Bannister, MI on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Marcel Portelli officiating. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI. Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M.
John was born in Topician, Czechlosovakia on September 5, 1918, the son of Victor and Augusta Ladiski, the oldest of 7 children. His parents immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island when he was two years old. On November 14, 1942 John married Mary Kirinovic in St. Johns, Michigan, they were married 57 years. Mary died on May 4, 1999. John served his country in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946. World War II took him to England, France, Belglum and Germany. John was a life long dairy and crop farmer. He enjoyed gardening and giving away the fruits of his harvest. John resided most of his life in the Elsie area. He was a member of the American Legion Post 580 Elsie, Michigan and a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church Bannister, MI.
He is survived by 6 daughters; Barbara and Tony Rosales of Lansing, MI, Mary Ann and Richard Fizzell of Dewitt, MI, Paula and George Harris of Laingsburg, MI, Kay Cummings of Fremont, MI, Patricia and James Ziola of Elsie, MI, Christine and Tim Evans of Elsie, MI, 1 son John Ladiski of Elsie, MI, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters; Mary Cerny of Elsie, MI, and Mildred and Frank Chapko of Elsie, MI, and brothers; Paul Ladiski of Ovid, MI, and Frank and Jenny Ladiski of Elsie, MI; sister in law, Irene and Joe Magryta of Flushing, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, 1 sister Betty, and 1 brother Peter.

Charles Clark, Sr.
Charles Clark, Sr., died August 21, 2011, at the age of 70. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, on June 11, 1941, the son of John and Kathleen (Fenby) Clark.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Karen Clark, Elizabeth (Mark) Fraim, Luanne Clark, son, Charles Clark Jr., grandchildren, Sara Acevedo, Mackenzie Acevedo, Justin Acevedo, Maria Alborell, Courtney Fraim, Lindsay Fraim, sisters, Linda Dennis, Bonnie Ryal, Wilma Clark, Cheryl Clark and brother, Robert Clark. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Clark, Jr.
A graveside service will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, August 24th at the Union Home Cemetery, North of St. Johns with Rev. Steven Lang officiating. His family will receive friends 11am to 1 pm prior to the service at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. Memorial contributions will be made to a charity of his family’s choice.
