Phaedra is a smart dog and she is usually very obedient. She is not overly affectionate in that she doesn’t jump up on you and she doesn’t lick faces. She also doesn’t want belly rubs, but she is quick to wag her tail if you talk to her or go over to her to pet her. She enjoys the company of humans and stays in the same room with you, but she doesn’t demand attention.
In her previous home she has lived with other dogs and cats and children – her favorite humans are babies. She does try to play with the cats; but if she gets too rough, she listens to someone telling her to stop. She does need to be introduced to new dogs slowly and carefully because she is always “on guard” with strange dogs but if they have good manners, she settles down in a while and accepts them.
Phaedra is allergic to oatmeal and will have some major skin problems if she happens to ingest anything that contains it. She also will chew on her feet and will have ear infections if she is changed to a lower quality food.
If you like to play tug-of-war, Phaedra will be happy to oblige you. She likes to go outside and hang around with you if you are out there but she has to be tied or on a leash or in a fenced yard because she can be disobedient about coming back when you call her.
If you have any rodents or other wildlife around, she is a great hunter and will go to great lengths to try and get especially squirrels – it is her duty in life to chase and harass them!
