With charitable gifts
An employee of Fifth-Third Bank was honored by her employer recently for the many hours she has committed to Sparrow Clinton Hospital with two gifts totaling $1,060.00 and in an ironic twist; the recognition comes as Robin Ingalls marks her twentieth anniversary with the bank.

Robin Ingalls, left, and Ann Hufnagel, display representative checks issued by Fifth Third Bank honoring Ingalls’ volunteer time in support of Sparrow Clinton Hospital and Auxiliary. She and Ms. Hufnagel are co-presidents of Clinton Sparrow Hospital Auxiliary.
“I was shocked when I learned of this acknowledgment,” she said, “but thrilled to know that the hospital will ultimately share the honor.”
While the hospital will eventually put the funds to special use, they were distributed initially to two organizations whose interest is raising funds in support of designated or special use projects. Each, Sparrow Clinton Foundation and Sparrow Clinton Auxiliary, received $530.00 in tribute to Ms. Ingalls’ many hours as an Auxilian and member of Sparrow Clinton Foundation.
The gifts are representative of Fifth-Third’s ongoing community commitment and encouragement for employees to become involved. During 2011, Fifth-Third Bank West Michigan had 2,700 employees delivering over 12,000 hours of board service and volunteer time to more than 400 non-profit organizations in its service region. A principal focus of Fifth-Third’s giving is in the area of health and wellness, supporting organizations that tend to promote healthy living, early detection, intervention and general healthy life-styles.
“This certainly has been an ideal way to commemorate my twenty years with Fifth-Third,” said Ms. Ingalls. “I have not only enjoyed the time with the bank, but I am pleased to have been able to be part of the community as a volunteer.”
Neither, the Foundation or Auxiliary, have immediate purpose for the funds, but they will not rest idly until a use arises. As in all supportive funding, patient care is ultimately served. “As an Auxilian and member of the Foundation, that makes Fifth-Third’s thoughtfulness moving,” commented Ms. Ingalls.
