Starting on Monday, March 24
Every Monday the Clinton County Senior Center, located at 201 E Walker Street in St. Johns holds a Euchre Tournament. On the 1st and 3rd Mondays they are held in the evening from 6:30-8:30 pm and on the 2nd, 4th and any 5th Mondays they are held from 1:00-3:00 pm. The cost to participate is only $2 in the evenings and either $2 or $1 during the day (if you eat lunch at the Center before the Euchre on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Mondays, the Euchre is only $1).
Starting on Monday, March 24 there will be a new twist to the events. Each Monday the Senior Center will celebrate some weird or unusual holiday (as found on the internet).
Monday, March 24, is National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day; so you are sure to find some of those and other chocolate covered items at the event.
On Monday March 31 things get a little healthier when they will celebrate “Berries and Cherries” month.
Lunch on the next two Mondays includes Ham and Scalloped Potatoes on Monday, March 24 and Beef and Noodles on Monday, March 31. These meals, which are served between 11:30 am to 12:30 pm are only $5. The center also serves sandwiches with chips and pickles for $3 and homemade pie for $1.50.
If you have never been to the Senior Center, come and check them out. In addition to regular activities like Euchre, Trivia, Bingo and lunchtime meals the Center has some special events each month because of grants received from the Jackson National Community Fund and Walmart. Special events for April include a Casino Day trip and a “Take a Chance Day”. On Take a Chance Day seniors can enjoy trying their luck at a number of different games and activities – lots of prizes and free lunch will be included.
The Clinton County Senior Center is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of senior and non-senior individuals. The Board raises all the funds needed to maintain the center through fundraising events throughout the year. There is no membership fee to join the Senior Center and members do not pay a daily fee to get in.
